Legacy

In 1456, Cape Verde was owned as Portuguese colony, along with Guinea-Bissau, and other countries in Africa. When Cape Verde won their independence from Portugal in 1975, it probably inspired other African countries to stand up to their European owners and gain independence. Guinea-Bissau joined up with Cape Verde in the PAIGC (African party for the independence of Guinea and the Cape Verdes) to get their independence from Portugal. In other words, Guinea-Bissau looked up to Cape Verde to gain their independence. The legacy of Cape Verde will always be important because not only people were inspired, a whole country was.
